November 15th, 2009Bridging the Gap
September 3rd, 2010Outta Place artists Fon Ma and Clare D facilitated a mural workshop with the elderly and the young people of Forest Cottage community centre, Halifax. The mural depicted imagery of modern gadgets like nano pods fused with tea-pots wearing hoodie- cosies ( a new phenomenon perhaps?!).
The workshop was a great success with the young people at times acting as mentors with their elders, there was a lot of banter and creativity. The finished mural will be up here soon, in the meantime check out this slideshow, courtesy of Calderdale Council.

June 15th, 2010Transition Zone in Hebden Bridge 30th May
June 4th, 2010The Big Green Weekend was flared up even greener this year with the Transition Town initiative bringing a Transition Zone to Hebden Bridge.
Outta Place was of course there! We delivered a workshop that swung arm in arm with the aims of this event: raising environmental awareness through Creating, Mending and Transforming.
Neil “women158″ Parkinson is a Graffiti writer and Illustrator from Leeds, just another fantastic artist collaborating with Outta Place. He got the young people etching and marking creating unique beautiful pieces of art out of old unwanted Vinyl Records. To add a cutting edge spin to the project the discs were then decorated with illuminating LED lights! The workshop was free and the art-work was used to created a stunning exhibition of raw re-cycled art and sparkling lights!
Keep checking back to this space for more Outta Place updates, or contact us at outtaplacearts@googlemail.com

Fair for Youth 22/05/10
June 2nd, 2010Fair for Youth was an event that took place at the Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge.
This event was dreamt up, applied for, organised, and then implemented by the local people of Hebden Bridge and members of the Calder Holmes Park.
The aim of the day was to connect as many youth activity providers as possible directly with the youths themselves, and bridge any gaps between the two.
We (Outta Place) delivered a “b-boy” or break-dance jam where some of our young people came along and had a dance, showing local youth what they can do and hopefully inspiring many along the way.
2 Kool Tony provided the Tunes, B-boys Craig Turner and Jonny Jingles facilitated the dancers and the slot was compared by Outta Places’ founding director Clare D.
