Profiles


Clare Donegan – Founder and Artistic Director.
Clare has over a decade of experience in the field of participatory arts.
She came to the UK in 1998 to study a degree in media and performance art at Salford University. This led to a facilitation role as a stills and video tutor with young offenders. This work drew Clare in further and she engaged mainly with young people across Lancashire for the following six years. In 2006 she secured a project management position at Burnley Council for a dynamic youth arts engagement programme entitled Sketch, this ran successfully for three years. On the back of this several short projects were developed until Febuary 2010 when Clare incorporated Outta Place.
Clare believes the arts can bring about positive change for young people who may be marginalized or deemed to be at risk. Clare aims to create a safe and secure space for children and young people where they can up skill in the arts subsequently raising their aspirations.


Geoff Wood – Board member/ non executive.
Geoff Wood is a specialist in the effective integration of art into the working lives of towns and cities. He has a practice based in Calderdale West Yorkshire however works both nationally and internationally. He offers expertise, consultancy and commissioning services that focus on the contribution art can make to the development of a humane society.


Pam Warhurst – Chair.
Pam has previously been the leader of Calderdale Council, Deputy Chair and Acting Chair of the Countryside Agency, a board member of Yorkshire Forward, and Chair of the National Countryside Access Forum and the Calderdale NHS Trust.
Pam founded Incredible Edible in Todmorden and is passionate about sustainability and the empowerment of communities. Currently she is also the chair for the UK Forestry Commission so is a busy lady indeed!


Alexandra Bennett Board member/ non executive.
After graduating with a degree in English literature, Alex worked for Penguin Books and the BBC. She subsequently qualified as a solicitor and has many years corporate and commercial law experience gained from working in private legal practice and in-house.
She is passionate about literature, the arts and under-water exploration.


Kane Rattray.
Kane is Outta Place's project assistant. Kane assists in certain key areas of operations. Kane is also a keen artist and is able to cope with the many demands from a young organization of this nature.



Juraj Marton.
Jurari is our break-dance tutor.
He has a way with the young people and facilitates may diverse groups in schools and youth centers. He originally hails from Slovakia.


Jethro Meyers.
Jethro is our media facilitator.
Jethro Is our new media facilitator/teacher with Outtaplace teaching Vj'ing, Motion Graphics, Animation and Video Production. He is also a core artist, project officer and Webmaster.
